Currently in production on the shop floor is a custom cabinet package built from FSC certified Eucalyptus and salvaged Koa. An interesting detail of this Portola Valley home addition, designed by Field Architecture, is it's use of SIPs (Structural Insulated Panel System) to build the structure. SIPs are said to be stronger, straighter, create less waste, generate little to no dust, don't off gas, and are 66% more energy efficient than standard frame construction. The main component of SIPs is OSB (oriented strand board) which takes less energy and resources to produce than other structural building systems. Yet another advancement in the green building movement.
